House bill to legalize recreational marijuana moves forward


SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – A bill to legalize recreational marijuana in New Mexico passed its first committee Saturday.

The discussion on House Bill 356, sponsored by a group of Democrats was expected to be so big, the Health and Human Services Committee hearing was moved to the House floor to accommodate everyone. After three hours of deliberation, it passed 5 to 2.

The bill still has several more hurdles to make before it could go up to the governor.
